Bournemouth, March 11th 2007

Photos from a day trip to my hometown, Bournemouth with Chris Hampson to see the last night (for this year) of his very lovely Strauss Gala at the Pavilion. I haven't been back there since 1982, so it was quite a shock!

Outside Moordown St John's school, my primary/junior school. I was suspended for a week for leading a demonstration march through Winton about the quality of school dinners.

The back of St John's - an imposing sight for a kid, and it still strikes fear into me, looking at it now.

The brick-lined bomb crater that is now Ensbury Park (Griffiths the newsagent and a car showroom and a greengrocer, the butcher and a chemist used to be here). Horrid.

The Ensbury Park tavern, our local, although I think I went there about 5 times in my entire Bournemouth life. I doubt it's any more salubrious now than it was then.
